The Jaycees began Amerada in 1957 as an opportunity for fellowship and friendly competition between the Canadian and US Jaycees. This makes Amerada the second longest running international JCI event. Amerada is held annually the weekend after Labor Day, and each country takes their turn to host. After last hosting in 2023 and attending many Amerada weekends across the US and Canada, the Southington Jaycees are excited to be the hosts of Amerada 2025, with the committee headed by the Stern Family.
